MCQST at FORSCHA 2022

MCQST will be at Forscha / Münchner Wissenschaftstage 2022 with Munich Quantum Valley, PhotonLab, and the other Munich-based Excellence Clusters to give the public a look into the world of scientists!

Meet us at the “Excellence Clusters in Munich” Booth

Where will we get our energy from in the future? What is a quantum computer? How does Alzheimer's disease develop? And what actually happened after the after the big bang? These and many other questions are being addressed by the researchers of the four Munich Clusters of Excellence e-conversion, MCQST, SyNergy and ORIGINS. At the joint booth you can expect exciting experiments to do yourself and take part in a fun quiz with cool prizes!

MCQST will give you a look into the world of a quantum scientist with virutal reality! Strap on a cutting-edge virtual reality headset and step right into the lab yourself.

Lecture: From Quantum Sensor to Quantum Computer | Prof. Dr. Immanuel Bloch

Saturday, 25 June 2022, 12:15 - 13:15

Quantum effects have long since found their way into our everyday lives: they play an important role in semiconductor components, such as computer chips or lasers. However, the full potential of quantum physics has not yet been exploited. Thanks to the ever-improving control of individual quantum systems, quantum effects such as superposition and entanglement can be "superposition" and "entanglement" can now be exploited to create, for example, new quantum sensors quantum sensors, quantum computers and quantum simulators.

What are the fundamental principles underlying these new quantum technologies and where could you find new applications? In his talk, Prof. Dr. Immanuel Bloch will give an insight into this new field of research

Reading: Alice in Quantumland

Sunday, 26 June 2022, 10:30 - 11:30

Read by Veit Ziegelmaier (co-author/executive producer) and Sofie Silbermann

Alice and her rabbit Rabbit are walking in the park when Rabbit suddenly disappears into thin air before Alice's eyes. How Alice finally manages to follow him, what adventures she experiences in "Quantum Land", and what it all has to do with a "half-living" cat, you can find out in our radio play.

For children from approx. 6 - 12 years, approx. 30 minutes.

A cooperation project of the school lab "PhotonLab" at the Max-Planck-Institute for Quantum Optics (MPQ), the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich (LMU), the Munich-Center for Quantum Science and Technology (MCQST), the Munich Quantum Valley (MQV), and the Deutsches Museum.
