Three Days, 2 Dimensions and Single Photons – Experimental Tools and Paths at the Intersection of Light and Quantum Systems

Join the MCQST PhD community for three days in a relaxed mountain setting to discuss the experimental side of light–matter interaction and quantum systems.

This small, discussion-oriented meeting brings together PhD students from MCQST who spend their days aligning beams, cooling resonators, fabricating samples, and troubleshooting the unpredictable joys of real-world experiments.

Our goal is to share practical insights, compare techniques, and spark new ideas across different areas — from 2D materials and single-photon setups to ultrafast optics and quantum devices.

In addition to regular talks and poster, we warmly invite tutorial-style and hands-on contributions that help others master experimental challenges or introduce creative solutions developed in your own lab. We will choose the participants mainly by your contributions.

Come for the physics, stay for the conversations!
