Quantum Minutes – Science Straight from the Lab

How can drums help build the quantum internet?

We are excited to announce the release of a brand-new episode on Quantum Minutes, featuring Dr. Irene Sánchez Arribas as our host! Irene recently completed her doctoral research in the group of Prof. Eva M. Weig, at the Technical University of Munich (TUM).

In her research, Irene studies the interaction of the light confined in an optical cavity with mechanical resonators - tiny drums. These resonators are made from hexagonal boron nitride, a material renowned for its fascinating quantum properties.

Discover the potential of this experimental platform as Irene unveils insights into how it could play a pivotal role in bridging the gap towards the realization of the quantum internet.
